Lose Weight - The Diet Solution Program.
Thousands across the nation are using the Diet Solution
Program as the ultimate option for weight loss! No need for dehydration, no need for starving or embarking on a
regimental diet, no need to go to the gym to lose weight. To better understand this read what the experts say you
need for Good Health and a Balanced Diet.
To understand how the diet solution can work for you, you will
need to understand a few basic things about what your body needs and the foods you require.
The human body requires the following things for good health and
survival:-
- Macro-nutrients, these are the building blocks of the
human body and they include Carbohydrates; complex and simple; Fats in the form of Essential Fatty Acids and
Proteins.
- Sunlight. It is important that sufficient
sunlight has to be absorbed to facilitate the manufacture of vitamin "D", essential in process of building
healthy and strong bones. Too much exposure to sunlight can cause cancer of the skin but lack of it can cause
seasonal affective disorder. (SAD)
- Oxygen. Shortage of oxygen for a very short period can
cause death, a small deprivation can cause someone to faint and collapse. Oxygen is critical in the oxidation
and conversion of food into the energy or ATP(adenosine tri-phosphate) that our body needs to do some
work.
- Micro-nutrients, which includes vitamins, minerals and
phyto-nutrients.
- Water - this alone constitutes about 70% of your body
mass
The Human body is a collection of several subsystems that are
complex to understand. By design Man were made to hunt for their own food and most of the foods that this
pre-historic Man ate was natural, unprocessed food. This is how Man has been "wired" to live and process food.
This "chemical balance" and capability to digest different foods is still the same and it has not transformed
over the years to adapt to the new conditions that we live in nowadays. Messages are continually transmitted to and
from the different systems and the brain, effectively maintaining a state of equilibrium required for
this chemical balance in the body.
25% of the oxygen that we breathe in is used in the
brain. A lot of messages, responses and activity are being processed in the brain both consciously and
subconsciously to maintain synergy and co-ordination in all body parts and organs to achieve this chemical
balance. By proportional comparison, the majority of work and energy is used in the brain than
anywhere else in the body. The brain therefore needs the right nourishment to be able to do this work. If your
mind is being distracted by other things like worry and distress, maybe things that you need to do and still
haven't done, then this work load will take its toll on your energy resources and your general capacity to
think properly, and be able to still maintain the same chemical balance. A good and constant supply of fresh air
and healthy lungs to facilitate this is required. The capacity to replace carbon dioxide (an unwanted toxin) from
the blood stream with oxygen cannot be emphasised enough. Oxygen is also used in all body cells to convert the the
blood sugar into ATP or ADP, the energy units that can be used by the body. Smoking is simply pumping poisons into
your body
Within each cell in the human body we find the mitochondria
which are like body furnaces where sugar or the fatty acids are converted to and from adenosine tri-phosphate
(ATP), or adenosine di-phosphate (ADP) the energy currency of the body cells. Carbohydrates are usually the main
sources of ATP/ADP. If someone is burning fat then its all happening in the mitochondria. Antioxidants play a key
role in the recovery of cells or mitochondria from this continuous respiratory process.
Macro-nutrients: Carbohydrates are the primary source
of blood sugar required by our bodies. This is obtained from both simple and complex carbohydrates. The ATP that is
required at cell level is available to the body in the form of glucose from starchy foods or fructose from fruits.
Complex Carbohydrates usually contain a lot more fibre and helps the food to move in and out of the digestive
system more easily. The difference between a good sugar and a bad sugar is what is called the glyceamic index (GI).
This is the rate at which it converts into blood sugar or glucose. if it is already nearly like blood sugar, that
is, easily convertible into blood sugar at consumption, then it has a very high "GI" and this will have the effect
of raising your insulin levels to control the level of blood sugar in circulation. Fluctuations in insulin are
likely to cause diabetes. Refined sugar and flour both have a very high GI and are likely to disrupt your insulin
levels, cause disease and obesity. Complex "carbs" have a lower GI and are less likely to be converted into fat.
Complex Carbs can be found in fruit and vegetables.
On the other hand deep fried food produce a carcinogenic substance called acrylamide and this causes the food to
have a very high fat content and calorific value, typical in fried (chips) potatoes and bread. Carcinogenic
substances are likely causes of some cancers.
Carbonated drinks, and even sugar-free drinks are known to have an observable connection with obesity, osteoporosis
and diabetes.
Energy is the capacity to do work. Eating the right foods at the right time will go a long way in increasing your
energy levels and how much you will be able to do differently.. Small meals more frequently will not cause any
stress to your system and will no doubt keep your energy levels high.
Essential Fatty
Acids: Despite press rap against
fats/oils, there are some essential oils that the body has to have and these are called Essential Fatty
Acids. Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's) are available in two families: Omega 3 and Omega 6. Omega 3 includes 3
different varieties of fatty acids. These are:-
- Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA),
- Eicosapantaenoic acid (EPA),
- Docosahexaenoic acid
(DHA)
Omega 6 can be found as Alpha Linoleic Acid found in plant oils
like sunflower, safflower and corn
ALA is not to be confused with Alpha Lipolic Acid and can be considered absolutely
essential as both EPA and DHA can be synthesised from ALA. ALA can be found in green leafy vegetables. EPA can be
found in fish and examples of good sources are salmon, herring, mackerel and sardines. Essential Fatty Acids are
critical for your metabolic health. A ratio of 3 to 1 is recommended respectively. Excess EFA's, that is more than
3 grams can increase possibilities of hemorrhagic stroke, reduced glycemic control and increases cholesterol and
can cause congenital heart disease. Good sources of EFA's are nuts, avocados, fish and seeds
Trans fats are made from vegetable oils that have been hydrogenated to increase bulk
and shelf life of some food products such as sweets, biscuits and ready meals. Trans fats have no nutritional value
at all and may cause high levels of cholesterol which can lead heart attacks and strokes. Watch out for a label
that says "contains hydrogenated oils" even when it is just partial.
Proteins: The
Protein in the human body is made up from combinations of about 20 different types of amino acids and just eight of
them are considered essential. (This is what makes what you are in the physical world including your DNA.) The
eight essential amino acids are derived from animal products such as meat, eggs and milk. The rest can be
synthesised from other products such as fruits and vegetables using one or more of the essential amino acids.
L. Glutamine, the amino acid used in making bones, abundantly found in blood plasma and constitutes 61% of the
skeletal system is now considered a necessary requirement. Glutamine is also apparently necessary for the
lymphocytes and macrophages to function properly and has to be available in percentages higher than
10%.
Micro
Nutrients: Further research now points to other requirements like Phytochemicals, which can be found
in green vegetables, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Acetyl L-carnitine (ALCAR), found in muscle meat and dairy, essential
anti-oxidants and probiotics are all now in the class of necessary essentials. Their deficiency has been identified
as a trigger to some health problems. Probiotics control IBS, lactose intolerance, prevent colon cancer. It is also
known to lower cholestrol and blood pressure and boost the immune system while discouraging growth of bad
bacteria.
The brain also requires neurogisers, simply brain exercises to keep it active and be
able to repair itself in the process.
Sleep is one way the brain and the rest of the body is
able to recover and repair itself from the damage of daily grind. The best way to sleep is to sleep in
complete darkness as light interferes with restful sleep. Darkness sort of triggers the production of melatonin,
the hormone that induces restful sleep and recovery of damaged body and brain cells. The liver in a similar way,
may go into some overtime whenever we eat certain foods that are not ideal for our bodies and
require extra processing. If this happens too often then the organ can become tired and never have enough time
to recover and repair itself.
Coffee and drugs are known to affect sleep patterns. Runaway brainware which may include unfinished projects,
things to do, paranoia, distrust and telling lies, not living your life honestly can cause your brain to be running
some reality checks in the background constantly and taking a toll on a lot of your energy levels and
other resources. Individuality can explain
why we react or respond differently to some foods or stimuli.Different body sizes including sizes of the
organs, different efficiecies may contribute to these varying threshhold levels that will trigger a
response or reaction to any stimuli. Allergies could be a factor of this individuality too. Our bodies may even
require different dosages of the same food to do the same amount of work. Our bodies do synthesise different foods
differently so each and every person has to determine their own needs in terms of how much you eat to maintain good
health. . Another factor could be Hormonal imbalances. Deficiencies or
excesses of one hormone or another could cause significant impact on one's
health. An examination or investigation of this subject can reveal a myriad of health scenarios that
further illustrates our individuality.
The quantities and frequency at which we eat also determines how much is
used, conserved and stored. These requirements, as you would imagine would be different from person to person. For
example a sports person, who has high levels of activity would require very high levels of the glucose sugar to be
converted into ATP in order to execute the task efficiently. Someone who is involved in strength training may
require protein (amino acids) to build that body so as to cope with certain stress levels. In a similar
way, someone who is plagued by disease or is simply distressed would require higher levels of energy usage
that are different from a normal person as the body tries to repair itself. No wonder some feel run down when they
are not well. Their energy is being used in tasks that are more demanding, in this case fighting the disease or the
stress as the case may be.
Pilates training, designed to strengthen both the mind and the
core muscles of the body may be needed for good health. Pilates training is based on controlled resistance training
and co-ordinated flow of movement.
A bit of strength training may be required as a lot of muscles are lost in later years.
This still may not be the end of the story as more research is
unearthing important discoveries about our bodies and its complexities. This background may be necessary to
